1. Types of technological processes of logging operations.

The technological process of logging operations is a set of methods, techniques and means (machines and mechanisms) for performing a number of operations in the logging area and the loading point (upper warehouse), from felling trees to loading timber onto timber transport.

As a feature that determines the type of technological process of logging operations, the type of wood loaded onto timber transport is taken. The wood harvested at the felling site can be transported to consumers or to the lower warehouse with assortments, whips (semi-whips), trees or in the form of technological chips. Thus, the following types of technological processes of logging operations are possible.

Type 1 technological process it is planned to harvest assortments at the felling site and load them onto timber transport. In connection with the strengthening of the environmental significance of plantations, the development and implementation of environmentally friendly technologies for the development of cutting areas, this type of technological process in the near future will be widely used in the development of small-sized cutting areas and the delivery of assortments directly to consumers. The republican program for the rational and integrated use of wood resources for 2002-2010 provides for a 4-fold increase in comparison with 2001, the volume of assortment harvesting of timber and its removal.

A variation of this technological process can be a process involving the harvesting of assortments from the butt part of trees and technological chips from the top part and branches. Such a technology of logging operations will be effective in the development of small-sized plantations (the volume of the log is 0.14-0.17 m 3) and is resource-saving, since the illiquid part of the tree (branches, tops) is also involved in the production sphere.

By technological process of the 2nd type logs are harvested at the cutting area, which are then loaded onto timber transport for delivery to the lower warehouse. This technological process is currently most widely used. When the logs are removed, conditions are created for their rational and complete processing, the labor intensity of cutting operations is reduced due to the transfer of labor-intensive operations from the cutting area to the lower warehouse, such as crosscutting, sorting, and stacking. This type of technological process is less resource-saving compared to the previous one, since only the liquid part of the stem wood is involved in the production sphere, which is no more than 65% of the biomass of the tree. In the future, the volume of logs procured will slightly decrease due to an increase in the volume of assortments harvested.

A variation of this technological process is the process by which logs are harvested from high-quality trees, and technological chips from small-sized and low-quality trees unsuitable for the production of business assortments and branches. It is advisable to use this variant of the technological process in the development of uneven-aged, two-tiered forest plantations. This technology makes it possible to more fully use the felling fund allotted to felling and is resource-saving.

Type 3 technological process It is planned to harvest trees at the felling site and load them onto timber transport. It is the most resource-saving, since with such a technological process of logging, conditions are created for comprehensive mechanization and automation of work and the use of high-performance equipment in lumber yards, rational and full use of all parts of the tree: trunk, branches and tops, tree greenery. However, this type of technological process has not received widespread use, because in many lower warehouses it is not possible to use the crown of trees, since there are no consumers of such wood raw materials in the immediate vicinity of them. In addition, with the existing technology and mechanization of tree harvesting, in most cases, the crown is contaminated with mineral impurities and certain difficulties arise when transporting trees along public roads.

By technological process of the 4th type at the cutting area, process chips are harvested from whole trees and shipped directly to consumers. This technology is recommended for the development of small-sized (the volume of the whip up to 0.13 m 3) and low-commodity plantings, unsuitable for the production of business timber from stem wood. It will also be effective in the development of timber resources in the areas of operation of enterprises for deep chemical and chemical-mechanical processing of wood raw materials. This technology of logging is low-waste, as it allows the use of the entire above-ground part of the biomass of the tree. However, the technology with the harvesting of technological chips at the cutting area will not receive widespread use due to the specific conditions of its application and in the near future will amount to about 2% of the total volume of timber harvesting.

Depending on the composition of operations at logging operations, the sequence and place of their implementation (in the felling area or upper warehouse), several options are possible in each type of technological process. The variant of the technological process of logging works depends mainly on soil and soil conditions, the presence of a viable undergrowth of economically valuable species and its size in the felling area, the size of the plantings, the possibility of safe and comfortable working conditions for workers and is determined by the place of performing such operations as cleaning trees from twigs and bucking of tree-lengths.

Some of the most common logging workflow options are listed below.

Harvesting trees:

- felling trees + skidding trees + loading trees.

Harvesting whips:

- felling of trees + skidding of trees + pruning of branches + loading of tree-lengths;

- felling trees + pruning branches + skidding logs + loading logs.

Harvesting assortments:

- felling of trees + skidding of trees + pruning of branches + bucking of tree-lengths + loading of assortments;

- felling trees + pruning branches + skidding logs + bucking logs + loading assortments;

- felling of trees + pruning of branches + bucking of tree-lengths + skidding of assortments + loading of assortments.

The technology adopted for the development of the cutting area should ensure high sustainable productivity of machines and labor of workers with minimal labor and funds, while observing safety requirements and environmental protection conditions, as well as silvicultural requirements.

Feller has been an extremely important profession for mankind for many centuries. Since ancient times, wood and workers who could work with it at different stages have been very highly prized. And it is very wrong to believe that in the age of reinforced concrete and modern materials, wood has lost its relevance, rather the opposite. Now such an environmentally friendly resource is especially highly valued, and with it the profession of a forest feller.

Description of the profession

A modern feller is a real professional in his field, who is able not only to cut trees, but also to correctly plan the entire process of work. Because with an unscrupulous approach, not only the ecosystem of the forest can suffer, but also the people who work on the perimeter.

The main tool of the lumberjack is, of course, the chainsaw. However, this tool appeared only at the beginning of the twentieth century, and before that, experts in the field of deforestation used ordinary saws and axes.

In addition, tools such as a rope, an ax and a hydraulic felling wedge are at the disposal of the modern logger. And also a modern lumberjack cannot be imagined without special equipment, which includes glasses, headphones, gloves, and a mask.

Where can you get the profession of forest feller?

In order to become a forest feller, you can take special courses, which are almost at every forestry. The future specialist is taught the basics of work, tells the specific features and learns to competently communicate with the main tool - a chainsaw.

If you need a more complete understanding of the work, then it is best to go to the technical school of forestry. The essence of the educational program is exactly the same as that of the preliminary training courses at the forestry, but much more time is devoted to this.

After completing the training, the future specialist will receive certification, which will reveal the level of his training. First, there is a written exam, where it will be necessary to demonstrate knowledge of the chainsaw, safety rules when working with it, as well as methods of felling wood. Then comes the testing of practical skills - working with a chainsaw.

There are also courses for professional retraining and advanced training. After completing such courses, you can improve your level of rank, due to which the level of wages increases and new career prospects appear.

Ranks of fellers

Today, there are six categories in the profession of a forest feller, however, only those specialists who have a 6th category can directly engage in felling trees. All others have the right to perform only work on the preparation of the perimeter, to clean up after, and also to cut off the knots. Therefore, it is most promising to immediately get the 6th grade, and not to increase it gradually.

Duties of a forest feller

The profession of a feller has an extremely clear and strict job description, in which all his duties are spelled out:

    cutting down trees, bushes, brushwood, as well as making firewood, sorting raw materials and destroying waste is allowed only according to state standards;

    careful preparation of the perimeter for felling: a good and safe entrance for all equipment, high visibility of the area, checking for the absence of strangers;

    regular inspection of the entrusted instruments;

    during the work, observe the site and its boundaries to prevent dangerous situations;

    cut down only the specified trees.

Requirements for the skills and personal qualities of a feller

A feller belongs to the category of specialties that require not only physical strength, but also a certain warehouse of character.

So, a modern lumberjack must have good spatial thinking and high organizational skills in order to properly prepare the site for felling and give clear instructions to the rest of the team members.

In addition, representatives of this profession highly value the following qualities: self-discipline, stress resistance, responsibility, composure. Equally useful will be the skill to keep track of the situation around you, without losing concentration on the task at hand.

Since this field of activity involves teamwork, we must not forget about communication skills and the ability to quickly and clearly express your thoughts.

Like many centuries ago, the profession of a forest feller is designed for physically strong and hardy people. Therefore, there are a number of medical restrictions: firstly, persons with mental disorders and disorders are strictly not allowed to work, and secondly, problems with the heart or musculoskeletal system will also cause a categorical ban on working in this specialty. Another reason for refusal to apply for a job will be joint diseases.

In order to confirm your professional suitability, you must first undergo a medical examination, according to the results of which a special certificate of admission to work as a forest feller will be issued.

Feller wages

The highest wage level for a feller of the 6th category, it can reach 60,000 rubles. If we talk about lower grades, then the amount varies in the range from 20,000 to 40,000 rubles.

At the same time, the profession of feller is the highest paid in Krasnoyarsk, where it is 60,000 rubles. But the region where the average wage is 70,000 rubles is the Nenets Autonomous Okrug.

Pros and cons of the profession of a forest feller

Among advantages the choice of this specialty is worth noting:

    High demand;

    Enduring relevance;

    High level of wages;

    Outdoor work.

TO negative aspects should be attributed:

    Hazardous working conditions;

    Stressful situation during work;

    Hard physical labor.

List of study literature

1 Organizational and technical indicators of RGP in forests 2 gr. in birches. Sections next: (for lowland forests) S cutting area (max) 20 hectares; cutting width 200m, l cutting area = 2000m; term of adjoining direct

2 RTK for carrying out the spl. felling (S = 4.8 for example)

3. Cleaning of felling areas - the final operation, the essence of which is the removal of felling waste, providing conditions for renewal, prevention of fires, erosion processes, reproduction of pests and diseases. Cleaning can be: utilization, fire, non-fire, combined manual and mechanized. Cleaning methods depend on the LRU, the state of the undergrowth, the technology of logging and l / v works. In sparsely wooded areas, all felling residues are sold to the public. At RC and selective felling, they are collected in small heaps and left to decay. In the coniferous forest fireflies, they are collected in glades and burned during the fireproof period. In other conditions, the residues are crushed and scattered over the cutting area with m / y undergrowth. On dry sandy soils, in order to retain moisture, felling residues are crushed and scattered. In mountain forests, with all felling methods, large felling residues are collected and taken away on drags, and the rest are crushed and scattered around the felling area. On plots for forest crops, the remains are collected in heaps or shafts parallel to the future rows of l / k.

The creation of favorable conditions for the restoration of plantations by self-sowing the following measures: preservation of undergrowth, cleaning cutting areas, leaving seed plants, preparing the soil for successful germination of seeds, caring for self-sowing and undergrowth.

5. In 2 - fresh subori occupy medium-elevated places. Pine forests in fresh suborias are the most widespread type of pine forests in the zone of coniferous-deciduous forests and in the forest-steppe. In fresh suborias, pine has the highest productivity, is well de-bred, and has high quality wood. In the forest-steppe, the natural regeneration of pine is unsatisfactory. The main species is false pine, secondary spruce, birch. Type of silvicultural area - old felling. Pine and birch grew before. There is birch undergrowth.
